John T. McNabb, II is Co-Chairman of The Council for a Secure America. He has served as a Delegate to The America Israel Friendship League, was a guest of the Israeli Government and has worked throughout the Middle East including the State of Israel.
Mr. McNabb served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Willbros Group, an international energy contractor which was listed on the NYSE. He currently serves on two NYSE listed company boards, Continental Resources and Cypress Energy Partners. In total he has served on the boards of eight publicly listed companies over his career including serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of a Fortune 1000 company and serving as the Lead Independent Director of two Fortune 500 sized companies. He recently retired as a Senior Advisor and prior as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking at Duff and Phelps Corporation. He started his energy career with Mobil Oil Corporation in the Exploration and Production Division in Colorado and Texas.
He is an Emeritus Board of Visitors Member of The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and most recently served as Chairman of the Board of Visitors at The University of Houston where he had also Chaired The Bauer College of Business board and taught as an Executive Finance Professor.
Mr. McNabb served two combat flying tours during Vietnam recording 135 combat missions over North Vietnam, Laos and the DMZ. He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross and The Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and was a finalist for Pacific Air Force Junior Officer of the Year in 1970 while stationed at Takhli Royal Thai Air Base and serving in the 355 Fighter Wing.
He has two degrees from Duke University including an MBA in Finance. During his senior season as a Duke University football captain he was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player and named to the All Atlantic Coast Conference 1965 team, was voted by the Atlantic Coast Conference coaches as the best blocker in the ACC winning the Jacobs Blocking Trophy. He was also named to two All America teams.
He and his wife manage the affairs of The John and Darlene McNabb Charitable Foundation from their home in Western North Carolina.
